For quite some time I have felt led by God to dive in and help out the community and others. I have been teaching coupon classes for over 2 years now and before each class I pray that I can reach at least one person in the class to take what they learn and GIVE BACK! I’ve always stressed donating extra items from your stockpile to a friend, family member, neighbor or a larger organization.
I truly believe that all of us, no matter what your ethnic background, religous beliefs, age, or income, all feel the need to HELP OTHERS. Last night, while driving home and listening to my favorite station, I heard a song that I hear quite often, but last night it really hit me hard. Here is the verse that led to this post:
“I refuse To sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose
Not to move, but I refuse”
I feel that I need to post more often about GIVING. We get so excited about our freebies and great deals every day. What about those that do not have the luxury of the internet, can not afford a printer to print coupons, can’t make it to the store or even afford the cost of one newspaper?
Each week I’d like to make a post with ALL of the items we have donated to those that are in need or that need a “pick me up”. Ideas: Women’s shelters, animal shelters, food banks, OUR MILITARY, military families, single parents, NEIGHBORS, and the person on the corner asking for food! The list is endless.
So this is what I ask. Sometime during the next 6 days, comment on this post with the item or items you donated this week. (comments will close on Tuesday). Have a picture? Email it to me!! I will make a master list to post next Wednesday along with one of your pictures so we can see our progress. To motivate everyone-and get the ball rolling, I will offer a $10 Gift Card (Publix or CVS-your choice) to one random commentor/emailer. Winner will be listed next week when I post the list and picture. (so please if you can, send a pic!)
I used my sons pic this week-we are donating 4 bags of Kibbles & Bits to Journey’s End Animal Sanctuary.
