School is in full swing in our house. Four kids at three different schools. We are busier than ever. I find that the busier our schedules get, the less time we have for fun. And having fun is very important for all kids. Even my older kids that are now teens need to break away from the schedule to just relax and have a good time. As a mom, I need to be in charge of my kids schedules and make time for fun. As much as I want my kids to focus on getting great grades and doing the best at their games and staying on task with great behavior at school, I also want my kids to enjoy being kids!
Add some FUN into your kids busy schedule with these ideas:
Have an after school snack party. After school the kids want to unwind. Instead of having a quick snack with their homework, throw a snack party! Grab some fun party hats, make a party sign, and turn on some music. Have a variety of their favorite snacks and drinks available. Some of our favorite refreshing drinks are from the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and include Yoo-hoo, Hawaiian Punch, and Mott’s juice.
Party in a lunch box. No time for a full blown after school party? No worries, make their school lunch a party in a box. Add fun notes to the kids lunch boxes. Include fun jokes that you can easily find on the internet to print. Or add in an old picture you found when they were little. Or a photo of a fun family event! Add in a surprise treat or drink. My kids favorite drink is Yoo-hoo. It’s a treat for them to have a Yoo-hoo drink box in their lunch. I love that it doesn’t require refrigeration and that it is rich in calcium and vitamin D. And the kids love the delicious chocolate taste.
Add in some fun. Look at these adorable ice cube trays. My kids love when I freeze their favorite drinks into ice trays and add them into their drinks. Not only are the shapes fun, but their drinks don’t taste watered down. This trick works great with Mott’s Apple Juice. I love that Mott’s Apple Juice is 100% juice. The kids love the refreshing taste.
Reward them with their favorite refreshing beverages. My kids are very active in sports. We are a softball/baseball family. Thankfully, they love it so much that it doesn’t feel like work to them. They enjoy it and I enjoy that it’s keeping them active. During practice and games we hydrate with lots of water. After a tough game on a hot day, which is every day here in Florida, the kids love to grab their favorite delicious and refreshing drinks out of the cooler. Mott’s Juice and Hawaiian Punch pouches from the Dr Pepper Snapple Group are two of their favorites. I had no idea that these beverages were a part of theDr Pepper Snapple Group , did you? They offer so much variety!
If you’re looking for ideas on getting the kids active while having fun, be sure to check out LetsPlay.com where they have lots of great tips and ideas for families just like yours. Let’s Play is a community partnership led by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to get kids and families to play nationwide. Did yo know that 33% of kids do not participate in daily active play? This statistic is one that was found in a survey that Lets Play had conducted showing that daily active play has decreased from the 41% in 2015. That is shocking to me. And very sad. Let’s make a change and get our kiddos playing again.
