Did you know that August is National Sandwich Month? Perfect timing with all of the sandwiches I have been making now that school is back in session. As many of you know I am mom to four awesome kiddos. They are entering 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 10th this school year. Here are my cuties:
You may see some resemblance between them. But, when it comes to their lunchbox requests, they are 100% different. Yes, all four of them require a different sandwich. Ahhh!
We have the PB&J Sandwich request from the little one. This one is my favorite. Easy peasy. We go through a lot of peanut butter each month. Between toast and peanut butter in the mornings, sandwiches each school day, peanut butter smoothies, and the occasional batch of peanut butter cookie, we use it often. Thankfully BJ’s Wholesale Club carries huge jars that are twin wrapped for one low price. So, we only have to buy it once a month!
This is where it gets a little difficult. We have a vegan in the house. No cheese, no mayo, no meat. So, what do we do? Hummus and veggies. Or guacamole spread and veggies. Or plain veggies. I will say, she has no problem getting her daily dose of veggies! BJ’s Wholesale Club carries a wide variety of fresh and organic vegetables as well as fresh Wellesley Farms Hummus. I can buy a tub of hummus to last almost a full month.
Next we have the two turkey fans. But again, they don’t make it easy for mom.
We have the EVERYTHING turkey. That includes turkey, cheese, but only colby or cheddar, honey mustard, and all veggies you can stack between two pieces of bread. And last, we have the turkey. And by “the turkey” I mean just…turkey. Dry. Bread is allowed, but no mayo, no mustard, no cheese. Just turkey and bread. My boys are the turkey fans. My 15yr old and my 10yr old. You would think the older child would like it stacked, but on the contrary, he is the “dry turkey only please” and my 10 year old is the “pile everything on there”. Go figure.
My husband and I also enjoy a sandwich on the weekdays as well. Both of us love BJ’s Wellsley Farms Deli Meats. I tried their Buffalo chicken and fell in love. It’s my new favorite. Hubby sticks with Dietz & Watson brand turkey. Their deli meat is always fresh and offered at a great price.
BJ’s also carries a wide variety of fresh bread in their bakery. From buns to grinder type rolls to your typical loaf of bread, they have it all. And always fresh. Keep an eye out for special buys too. I found freshly baked pretzel rolls last month and they were so delicious. I even ate one..or three… plain! So good!
Have picky eaters? Have no fear…BJ’s has you covered with regular loaves of bread as well. Heck, sometimes I love a pb&j on white bread… why not?
