Above are pictures from my June 4, 2011 shopping trip – I spent $49.10 and saved $177.41. When I first started couponing in May 2011, I started because I wanted to save my family of 4 money on groceries & household items. I never could have imagined the affect that my “couponing” would have on so many people other than us.
I’ve always donated & shared items, as well as “sold” some at huge discounts, mainly to cover the cost of my coupons & out of pocket expenses, but I found out in November through a school newsletter that my son’s elementary school has a food pantry & they were in need of donations. Apparently they’ve had it for over a year, but I wasn’t aware. Knowing that the items I donate are going to those families of the children within the school, who may be friends with my son, made me want to give even more! Check with your kids or grandkids schools to see if they have a food pantry to donate to.
Below are the donations that I’ve dropped off since finding out about the food pantry.
