I was honored to attend the World Premiere of the newest Disneynature movie Chimpanzee. This heartwarming movie follows an adorable baby chimp, Oscar, and his family during their adventures in the jungle. I was moved and smiling ear to ear when I saw the bond between baby chimp and his mama, Isha. As a mom myself, I could feel the love that Isha had for young Oscar- cuddling him, feeding him, and protecting him. You could see the love in her eyes.
When a rival group of Chimps try to take over, Oscar is left orphaned. (Be sure to bring tissues!) Oscar struggles to find food while coping with the confusion and sadness of losing his mother, his provider! Then, the extraoardinary happens. Oscar is “adopted” by a male Chimpanzee! A new bond is made between baby chimp and his new “adopted” dad.
Chimpanzee is geared toward families. I personally will be bringing my almost 6 year old, 9 year old, and 11 year old to this movie. I do believe that my – just turned 4 year old – is just a tad too young. I feel the movie is very educational as well as entertaining – and truly is, even with the sad turn of events in the middle of the film, a feel-good family movie.
Chimpanzee will arrive in theaters everywhere on April 20th. Be sure to watch Chimpanzee during the opening week (April 20-27, 2012). For every ticket bought during the first week, Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund in order to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, now and into the future.
*I was provided with an all expense paid trip to the Red Carpet Premiere of Chimpanzee by Walt Disney Pictures, Global Resort Homes, and the Kissimmee CVB. All opinions are 100% mine.
