I don’t know about you, but when I’m in line at the register, I have a habit of looking at the items on the belt for the customers in front of or behind me in line. Then, I think of what “extra” coupons I might have on me to share with them. (The zipper pouch above is what I take to the store – I do not keep a binder) A lot of the times when I hand them the coupon to use, they will ask me “are you sure?”.
Just the other day I was at my local Publix standing at an end register that was closed, so I could split up my transactions to be able to use multiple $5 off $30 Winn Dixie coupons from the Enjoy the City books.
While I was there, splitting up my transactions, there was a customer who didn’t have enough cash to purchase all of his items. He started asking which items were around $5 so he could void it from the transaction. I then called the manager’s name who was nearby & handed her one of my $5/$30 coupons to use towards his transaction. He seemed shocked that someone would do that – he didn’t have to put back any items & was very thankful.
Many times I have offered a $5/$30 coupon to those that have waited behind me patiently. The rude people behind me, well, they can just be rude.
What coupon sharing stories do you have?
OMG I do the same. I also share if I have extras like at Michaels crafts, etc.
I share all the time too its funny the cashiers at my publix look for me and ask if I have any extras often times I do and I give them what I have it is also funny how they also ask how to get a particular deal and one cashier did not even know about the kraft coupon site with publix cpns.
The children and I have been laughing about our Winn Dixie coupons reproducing in my wallet because the more we give away, the more we find! You can’t outgive God!
Absolutely. I call myself The Coupon Fairy when I get the chance to do this.
The last time the Yakisoba noodles were on sale I was starting to load up my cart when a lady came next to me and grabbed 6 boxes of some other noodles that were not on sale. I mentioned to her that the Yakisoba noodles were on sale BOGO. She looked at me kind of funny and politely said that she was picking them up for a friend and the ones she got where the ones she wanted and off she went. Next thing I know she is back and on the phone with her friend that was apparently very excited that the Yakisoba noodle were on sale. The woman thanked me, grabbed 6 boxes of the Yakisoba noodles and again off she went. I chased her down and gave her enough coupons for her noodles, as I am sure everyone knows, made them free. She burst into tears, started hugging me, thanking me, and blessing me. You would have thought I gave her the winning lottery ticket. I am not sure if it was the kindness I showed or that she was really strapped for money but whatever it was it really touched her and it didn’t cost me a dime.
