Late Sunday I received a call from my sons coach…..the uniform shirts & hats came in, we need to purchase WHITE baseball pants, Royal blue belt & royal blue socks – the first game was yesterday, so I had less than 24hrs to get this done….as frugally as possible! Of course he has baseball pants: grey, black, and tan!
I had 2 options: Play It Again Sports in Lake Mary or Sports Authority which was much closer. Having 2 kids in tow I chose to avoid the long drive to Play it Again Sports (and they don’t have carts which I knew I would need with my 2 & 4yr old).
The baseball pants were $20 + tax. No sales, no clearance, nada. $20 was my only option. (they were out of BLUE belts and socks – which by the way I read the shelf tag and there is no way I will pay $15.99 for socks! lol)
I headed to the register with my overpriced pants. The customer in front of me let the cashier know that she forgot her 25% off one item coupon at home…..can she bring it back with her receipt later and get her $ back. The nice cashier let her know that she actually had a few extras at the register. SCORE! Lesson 1: ALWAYS ASK FOR COUPONS at the register!! I didn’t even know Sports Authority had coupons!! My $20 overpriced pants were now $15 – a little better!
I then proceeded to Target to see if they happend to have blue socks/baseball belts, which they did not HOWEVER they did have the white baseball pants that I just purchased next door – and they were only $9.99! Score!! Lesson 2: Target has a WIDE selection of sporting goods at great prices! I will be returning the overpriced pants to Sports Authority tomorrow.
I took a look on Amazon when I arrived home and found the royal blue socks for only $5.99 – Thats a $10 savings from the price at Sports Authority!
I thought I would share this tidbit that I learned last week too. Our dryer died….it was inevitable since it was about 10+ years old…I’m not kidding. We went to Appliance Direct and I found two that I absolutely loved. I could not decide between them. One was about $50 less than the other, but still, I loved them both, $50 was not convincing enough. The salesman then let me know that Lowe’s had one of the dryers on sale this week, the sale made it $50 less than the price at Appliance Direct. WELL – Appliance Direct will take 30% off of competitors pricing! WOW! ANOTHER GREAT TIDBIT OF INFO!!! Needless to say, that sold me. We are now the proud owners of a new Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer (and washer too….it was time). I did want a frontloader but everyone I talked to that had one talked me OUT OF IT!
