Give the Gift Of Education This Holiday Season | The Gift That Lasts A Lifetime
It’s officially the start of holiday shopping in many households today. I was one of those Black Friday shoppers today. And as I look at the bags of new ornaments, toys, electronics, and clothes, I think about the excitement I will see in my kids eyes on Christmas morning. However, I can’t be the only parent that realizes that these toys and electronics are very short-lived fun entertainment for kids. They grow and change each year and eventually, like my two oldest kids (teens), have grown out of toys and bikes altogether. Many toys and gadgets will be at the bottom of the toy box by mid January. Am I right?
How about giving a gift that can last a lifetime? The gift of education! I know that babies, toddlers, and young children may not understand the importance just yet. But, as parents and grandparents, we know how important education is and how expensive it can be. Consider cutting back on a few of the devices, and investing in a child’s future. Giving your child or children the gift of education , which is a big investment in their future, is one of the best things you can do for them. They may not say it now, but once they are in college, or when they start a family of their own, they will be overjoyed and elated knowing they are not starting their own family with a boatload of debt and college loans. My husband and his siblings all had Florida Prepaid funds set up for them. I am so grateful to his parents for making such a wise decision. And for passing that knowledge on to us!
As a parent, that feeling of knowing that you have your child’s education paid off is truly amazing. I promise! Starting early is the best way to start. When friends and family and the grandparents ask what the kids want for Christmas, consider asking them to help with their future education. Additional payments can be made at ANY time in any increment.

How much will I spend?
This will depend on a variety of factors. There are quite a bit of options to choose from with Florida Prepaid. And, of course, if you have more than one child, you’re going to pay more each month. I’m happy to share that plans start as low as $46 per month!
Do I have options?
YES! There is something for every budget out there. The newest addition is the 1-Year Florida University Plan. This plan will allow your family to purchase up to four years at a state university in 1 year increments. This will help stay on budget. This plan starts at just $46 per month. This plan also allows multiple purchasers to buy a plan for the same child. You can team up with other members of your family to pay for your child’s education. For example, maybe grandma and grandpa want to purchase one year, and you can purchase a second year. This plan makes that possible.
Maybe you want to pay off all 4 years? This is also an option. Choose a 4 year college plan or a 4 year university plan.
Here are the details of the 4 year Florida University Plan. Keep in mind, this is just ONE of the options Florida Prepaid offers:
4-Year Florida University Plan
*This plan will start your child off at one of Florida’s 12 Prestigious State Universities and see them through their 4 year journey
*If your child decides to start at a smaller college (which is typically less expensive), those unnused funds will be applied to a post-secondary dgree or you can receive the remaining money back!
*Prepaid Plan can be used at schools nationwide.
