Since Easter is coming up soon, most of us will be boiling a bunch of eggs. If your like me, you never know how they will turn out. This is a full proof way to have the perfect egg every time!
1) Put your eggs and a pot.
2) Cover them with water, only about an inch overhead.
3) Put them on the stove and turn it on medium high heat.
4) As SOON as that water starts to boil (and I mean boil, not just a few bubble here and there), turn the stove off.
5) Set the timer for 10 minutes.
6) When the timer goes off, remove the eggs from the pot and put them in cold water. (Sometimes I put them in an ice bath, but I haven’t found that it really matters either way)
7) Let them sit for about 5 minutes and then enjoy.
Thanks Pinterest & Its Fitting
Hi, I have a question for you. I tried this tonight while making some boiled eggs. When I was peeling them, every single one would hardly peel at all. I ruined every egg, losing half of the egg white in the process of peeling them. Can you please tell me if there is something I could do to make the peeling process better so they will peel better? Thanks!
Sprinkle a little salt in the pot when you boil and they peel so much easier.
Poke the end of the egg with a tack, making a small hole, BEFORE boiling. Works perfectly every time.
Your eggs are hard to peel because they’re too fresh, believe it or not. I don’t know exactly how old they need to be to keep that from happeninig but I know that if I use a carton of eggs that’s been in the fridge for a while instead of one I just brought home from the store, I don’t have that problem.
Putting salt in the water won’t help you in peeling them nor will it keep the eggs from cracking; but it will keep the white from running overly much if the egg does crack.
If you do have fresh eggs, you can still boil them and make them peel easily… just take a safety pin or something equally sharp and pointy (push pin) and slightly poke a hole in the bottom of the shell, without poking through the thin membrane inside the egg. Cook like normal.
See how your eggs ‘float’ before boiling them. This tells you how fresh your eggs are. Run a pot full of water and put your uncooked eggs in. If the egg sinks to bottom, it is too fresh too peel easily after boiling. If it stands on end, it is just right to peel after boiling. If it totally floats, it is way out of date so toss it out.
I had no issues with peeling because I put cooking oil in the water. I used ice water to cool them down. SO DELICIOUS!! Thank you!!!
