What an honor to meet and interview the McClain Sisters! Let me tell you – I was extremely impressed with these girls. So talented, well-spoken, well-mannered, yet spunky, and a lot of fun! These girls are a very close family unit with VERY strong core values. Definitely a group I will continue to encourage my oldest two children to follow. These days it is so very hard to find wholesome family friends singing groups.
The McClain Sisters, are comprised of China Anne McClain and her sisters Lauryn, and Sierra. The trio wrote the song “Rise,” after being inspired by Disneynature’s feature film CHIMPANZEE. When asked how they felt when they were asked to write the song – they said they “Kind of freaked out” – but they were honored to be a part of such a great movie and experience.
Here are two of my favorite interview questions/answers from our session with the girls. The second question was my personal question for the trio:
If there’s one key message that you’d like to portray to young children under fifth grade , what would that be?
I would definitely tell them to stick close and to love each other, and to always be there for each other, because you know our mom always taught us, my dad too, but my mom definitely taught us is that, you know, friends, they come and go sometimes, but your sisters are gonna be — always be there for you. No matter what.
So, have you been singing your whole life??
For as long as I can remember. Because our parents met doing music. Like, when I was a baby and when she was a baby, we pretty much had a studio where we lived, and so we would always hear music, and my dad and my mom, they’re vocalists, and they’re like, really good.
