I am completely amazed at how many people text and drive. Earlier this week, I attended a conference, isummit, and one of the speakers was mentioning how obsolete billboards are these days. Why? Because no one is looking up at them anymore. In fact, most people are barely looking at the ROAD!! Instead, they are focused on their smartphone that is in their lap, hands, dashboard, or in the seat beside them. Reading texts, emails, dialing, etc. So, on my long drive home, I took a quick peek to the left and to my right while on our major Interstate here in Florida. Sure enough, the person to my right was typing away and the person to my left was not paying attention to the road, but I couldn’t quite see if he had a phone on his lap or not.
This saddens me. This scares me. Did you know that the time it takes them to glance down at their phone or type a reply –approximately 4.6 seconds – can be like driving the length of a football field, blindfolded? OH MY WORD!
Verizon Wireless recently made Safely Go available to its customers in the Verizon tab of Google Play. This app, designed to limit the distractions that commonly occur when drivers use their phone in their car, responds to text messages with an auto-reply so they can concentrate on the road. Of course, we have to be willing participants and fight the urge to check the message anyway.
I encourage you to check out the SAFELY GO app, share it with your family & friends. Even if you’re not guilty of texting and driving, it sounds like a useful app to have to let people know you’re busy and will get back to them shortly.
Let me know what you think of the new app.
I plan to download this app myself today and I will report back the beginning of next week.

I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program. I have been provided with a Verizon wireless device for 3 months to review. All opinions are 100% mine.
Thanks for the information. I have the “Smart Action” on right now but this sounds a lot better and easier to use.
