Friday marked one full week on the OPTAVIA program. I have been following the 5&1 plan, eating 5 of the OPTAVIA fuelings provided and one lean and green that I prepare myself. I have increased my water intake to 64-80 oz each day as well.
I lost a whopping 8 pounds in just 7 short days!
SEVEN days! I can’t even begin to explain how amazing that is. It’s a big accomplishment and it’s not just the scale that is changing. This morning (Tuesday-day 12) I noticed that my once tight jeans weren’t as tight as usual. There was no laying on the bed to button them. They buttoned without the struggle. I’ve also had more energy these last few days and it shows. I’ve been given the green light to walk 20 minutes a day by my doctor and I actually have the energy and motivation to do it that I didn’t have last month. The MOST exciting part about all of these changes is that I’m only in week 2. I’m looking forward to continued weight loss, fat burn, and even more increased energy.
Changes are happening
Yesterday, my oldest daughter turned 15. We celebrated with a nice dinner out and returned to the house to celebrate more with her favorite cake. Did I have to miss out on all the festivities or deprive myself because of my new healthy habits? No! Check out my plate from dinner last night:
Grilled chicken, grilled spicy shrimp, and plenty of healthy, filling veggies. My daughter gladly ate my corn and bread. The best part, half of this delicious dish came home with me for today’s lean and green meal. When we arrived home from dinner I popped a delicious OPTAVIA brownie in the microwave so I could have a sweet treat while she enjoyed her birthday cake. It was satisfying and healthy. I can definitely get used to these new healthy habits.
For me, dieting always meant deprivation. It meant skipping parties and fun get-togethers that involved food if I wanted to stay on my diet and avoid all those temptations. That is not the case with the new tools I’ve been given. I can enjoy all of the fun occasions and still make healthy choices. If I am craving a crunchy snack, I have a crunchy snack. If I’m craving something sweet, I have a delicious chocolate and peanut butter bar or a warm brownie from OPTAVIA. No guilt!
You guys…. I have not been hungry at all. This is a huge difference from the numerous previous diets that I have tried in the past. Like many of you I have tried numerous diets and failed miserably. Even when I lost weight, I’d always gain it back and then some. I’m so glad to be out of that vicious cycle.
Exactly how did I do it?
There is no big secret! I simply followed the 5&1 plan, eating my 5 provided meals and my lean and green. I drank water..all day long. And, most important I received constant support as needed by my health coach. It’s such a simple, easy to follow plan.
Your health coach is a vital piece to the program. My health coach Franci Feld, is just a phone call away. I am not a phone person, and that is ok. I can text, message, or call my support system at any time. She lost 70 pounds on her journey to optimal health. She is a wealth of knowledge. Another vital piece to staying on track is utilizing the OPTAVIA healthy community by joining in on support calls on Wednesday and Thursday. They provide support, knowledge, and motivation. You don’t have to do this alone.
