OUR 5K Journey – Chugging Along

I’m on Week 3 of my 5K Training.  There have been ups & down. Good days & bad days.
I feel much stronger.  I have been eating more.  The “more” has been healthy choices.  I’ve noticed the more I train, the more my body craves fruits, water, salad, peanuts, and eggs.  And that cake doesn’t look as appealing. Have I lost weight?  No, I don’t think so.  I have not weighed myself.  I told myself at the beginning of training that this is about getting healthy, and strong,  not being a size 0.  But if that happens – that will be a nice perk.  I won’t fight it. Ha!!

I have endured pain along the way.  Lower back pain and shin splints.  The lower back pain went away after some great advice from my friend Lisa who blogs at Addicted To Saving.  My body mechanics were all wrong.  Stood up straighter and kept my core tight and the pain disappeared.  Thank you Lisa!  The shin splints are off & on.  Icing helps, running on the grass helps.  And I am heading out for new shoes next week which should really help!

DRENCHED with rain – but running through it 🙂

Today it rained.  It poured at times.  I stepped outside and turned around to come inside.  “I will run later”.  Then turned back around.  “No I won’t!” So off I went.  I think today I had the best run yet.  It was refreshing.  Even when it poured.  I actually enjoyed it.  And when I got home and the rain had passed my husband asked  “sweat or rain?”  Hmmm.  I was tempted to fib.

There’s still time to join the Disney Princess Race- Head on over and sign up

Way To Go!!! I did my first 5k Last Fall which lead to my first Half Marathon in Orlando in December. Full Marathon is on the list for January at Disney! Keep it up- it gets easier and easier!!! (And I love that your focus is on improving health and overall fitness not just weight) 🙂
