This may be a little off topic but I really found it interesting. Above is a list of where we tend to get the most of our salt from in our diet. Along with the Weight Watchers Points System I’m using, I’m also watching my salt intake as well as increasing my water consumption each day. Here’s my problem-I love crunchy/salty foods. I crave them. This info I found on Frito Lay’s site was pretty surprising: a 1 oz serving of Lay’s® potato chips contains less than 1/12th of a teaspoon of salt. That’s less salt than in a serving of wheat crackers. Tostitos® SCOOPS!® tortilla chips contain less salt than a serving of fruit yogurt! I thought that chips, especially tortilla chips had MUCH more salt!
Another interesting find: Dietary Guidelines recommend that Americans consume no more than 2300 mg of sodium per day (that’s equivalent to about 1 tsp of table salt).
Be sure to check out more info on this Frito Lay Page.
