Recently, my daughter and I headed to Universal Orlando Resort to be part of the 25th Anniversary Concert Series. When she read the list of upcoming shows, I thought I was going to have to perform CPR on her. The screaming and hyperventilating was in full force as she read the name….SHAWN MENDES.
ABOUT: Come celebrate 25 years of unforgettable moments at Universal Orlando’s 25th Anniversary Concert Series. In addition to all your favorite rides, shows and attractions, on select nights May 23 – June 20 the stage at Universal Studios will come alive with amazing live performances.
In case you’re wondering who Shawn Mendes is, here he is:
Shawn started as a YouTube and Vine sensation and has since turned into a huge musical sensation. He released his first single “Life of the Party” on June 27th, 2014. His self-titled EP reached number one on the iTunes charts in under 40 minutes upon being released in July 2014. Shawn is now opening for Taylor Swift on her current tour.
We headed to the parks early so we could ride some amazing rides before heading to the stage. That is what we absolutely LOVE about Universals Events. You can stay all day and play before the event, or come right before the show. We came early because we wanted to spend time in Diagon Alley.

After enjoying some rides and a delicious Butterbeer at Islands of adventure we took the train over to Universal Studios.
Our favorite ride had to be Revenge of the Mummy. It was SO terrifying…we had to ride it twice!
We headed over to the stage quite early because my overexcited daughter was hoping to catch a glimpse of her idol or some of his crew setting up the stage. To my surprise, a line had formed already! We spoke to a few employees who let us know we were more than welcome to get a special ticket to be assured we’d get up front. They didn’t have to ask twice, my daughter was thrilled.
As you can see, the stage is right in front of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios. A perfect backdrop in my opinion. Especially as it gets dark. The roller coasters lights + the stage lighting make for an unbelievable site.
Once the crew was done setting up, those of us that had waited those extra hours were let in first. I let my daughter run ahead while I stayed back and was delighted to find out that EVERY AREA had an amazing view. I think my view from the back was BETTER than my daughters view at the stage edge. I found a bench and grabbed an ice cream and I was set.
The stage had two VERY LARGE television screens on either side plus a third large screen was at the back of the crowd. This way everyone, even us old parents, had a great view of the show. The sound system was amazing as well.
My daughter had a night that she will remember for years and years to come. I’m sure some day she will take her children to see their “teen idols” some day and she will remember her first concerts as well.
I highly encourage all parents to take the kids to these family friendly concert events at Universal. If the crowds and loud screaming fans are not for you, no worries. There is plenty of viewing from afar and very large TV screens for you to watch from no matter where you are!
On select nights through June 20, Universal Studios Florida will host a diverse lineup of award-winning, chart-topping artists to celebrate its 25th anniversary year. The excitement of the concert series is included with admission to Universal Studios Florida or with an Annual Pass. For more information, visit www.universalorlando.com.
