Westgate Lakes Resort Review and Discount Offer
Earlier this month I was given the opportunity to visit Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa in Orlando, Florida. My family and I had an AMAZING time at this resort. Let me start by saying that I would recommend Westgate Lakes Resort to locals as well as those traveling or visiting from out of the state. Being a local living here in the Orlando area, I only had to travel about 35 minutes to Westgate. The resort is located very close to Universal Studios and Sea World as well as Walt Disney World. I was not sure if my kids would consider this a vacation, since we were so close to home and they are very familiar with the area. I’m here to tell you that all four of my kids, ages 5 through 13, had an amazing time. And so did mom!
Once you enter through the guard gate at Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa, you feel like you have your own piece of heaven. There are palm trees lining the resort buildings. And pools are around every corner. My absolute favorite thing about this resort is that there are so many activities for both kids and adults. Kids of all ages will be entertained, which is a huge plus in my book. I love that fact that you don’t even have to leave the resort to have fun. Living in the Orlando area, we go to Disney and other parks quite often. So, finding a local resort that doesn’t require us to leave and buy expensive park tickets is very important to us.
My kids favorite activity was definitely swimming. There are a total of eight different pools located within the resort. There is one within walking distance of every room in the resort.
You can’t go on a vacation in Florida without hitting the pool. Each of the pools that we visited had a kiddie pool as well. You can see it in the back left of the photo above. My younger two kids, ages 6 and 7 enjoyed the kiddie pool area the most! There is also a hot tub at each pool. The pool closest to our room is pictured above. Each day that we were there, a DJ would play music in the afternoon. And, they took our requests!
There are many other activities at Westgate. My 6 year old daughter enjoyed looking over the days scheduled events each morning. Some of her favorites were S’mores making, ice cream floats, spin art, and teddy bear making!
My older kids preferred the sports activities that were offered. Water sports like fishing and boating were at the top of their list. Followed by mini golf, basketball, and volleyball. They also enjoyed the arcade.
There are 2 restaurants on property, so you won’t be hungry! Choose from a pizzeria that delivers to your room, or a smokehouse that has amazing barbecue and plenty of delicious options for the kids as well if they don’t prefer barbecue. There is also a deli/mini mart in case you forgot anything at home or need some extra snacks. And, they serve Starbucks coffee – yum!!
I saved the best part for last. The rooms! The rooms are amazing. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. Alright maybe it’s not a condo, but it definitely felt like one. The room had a fully stocked kitchen with plates, utensils, paper towels, a blender, fridge, oven microwave, and more. The dining room sat 6 comfortably. The master suite was amazing. As you can see in the picture at the top of this review, we had our very own hot tub in our bedroom/bathroom. The bed was very comfortable…so comfortable I didn’t want to leave. Our balcony was screened in, which was perfect so mom didn’t have to worry about the kids climbing. Our view was gorgeous. We could see the lake, water sports, and lots of beautiful lush green trees in the distance. We even got a glimpse of the Disney fireworks display.
Again, I highly recommend the Westgate Lakes Resort for both locals and those traveling afar. We will be back for another “staycation” very soon!

Just booked my weekend it was $271 for 2 nights at the FL resident rate and it went down to $240 just by mentioning the promo code!! So Excited to enjoy my mother’s day weekend here.
Hi Amber, I am trying to book for the same dates, 5/9/14 – 5/11/14, can you tell me how many bedrooms you booked for that price? I am being told that the FL resident rate is the same as the one they offer if you take the tour…so confused.
